Anthony Ralston, born on 16 November 1998 (age 27), is a Scottish right-back whose senior career has been shaped almost entirely by Celtic. He joined the club from Queen’s Park in January 2016 and has remained tied to the first-team picture for long enough to become one of the more familiar constants around the squad.
His early years included time away on loan, useful rather than glamorous, before he worked his way back into Celtic’s plans. The breakthrough was not always smooth, but Ralston stayed in the building and made himself difficult to discard. His best league return came in 2021–22, when he scored four goals in 28 appearances.
Across 11 seasons at Celtic, Ralston has made 111 league appearances and scored seven league goals. He has also been part of a highly successful period at the club, winning eight Premiership titles, five League Cups and three Scottish Cups. That is not a minor footnote, even if his role has often been more functional than starring.
Still wearing squad number 51, he remains a regular first-team presence in 2025–26. He has made 35 appearances in all competitions this season, including 24 in the league, and scored once in the Scottish Cup. His form has been solid and consistent, and he has also added three Scotland appearances in World Cup qualifying.
His current market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt. Ralston’s career is, in plain terms, a Celtic one: long-serving, useful, occasionally underestimated, and still relevant in the current side.
