Auston Trusty is an imposing American central defender, born on 12 August 1998 (age 27). He arrived at Celtic in August 2024 from Sheffield United for around £6m, a sizeable fee for a player whose career had already taken in English football and a productive loan spell at Birmingham City.
That 2022-23 season at Birmingham remains the standout statistical year of his league career, with four goals in 44 appearances. It helped move him on to Sheffield United, before Celtic brought him to Glasgow the following summer.
At Celtic, Trusty has been part of a successful domestic period, winning two Premiership titles and the 2024-25 League Cup, as well as finishing runner-up in the Scottish Cup. In 2026-27, he has made two league appearances, four in the Scottish Cup and seven in the Europa League, scoring twice in Europe. Across those competitions, he has 13 Celtic appearances and two goals.
He has also remained involved with the United States, making two World Cup appearances this season and scoring once. His current market value is around £5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Trusty’s career has moved from the United States into England and then to Celtic, where he is a current squad defender with domestic medals already behind him and European minutes in the present campaign.
