Auston Trusty, born on 12 August 1998 (age 27), is a USA international central defender with the frame to match the job: a commanding 6ft 3in (1.91m) presence at the back. His most productive league season came at Birmingham City in 2022–23, when he scored four goals in 44 appearances.
Celtic signed him from Sheffield United in August 2024 for around £6m. It was a sizeable outlay for a defender, and not the sort of move that leaves much room for vague promise. Trusty settled into the squad that won the Premiership and League Cup in 2024–25.
In 2025–26, he remains a regular first-team presence. He has made 25 league appearances, along with three in the League Cup, three in the Scottish Cup, one in Champions League qualifying and seven in the Europa League, where he has scored twice. His form this season has been strong and consistent, which is about as useful a trait as a centre-half can offer.
Trusty has made 39 Celtic appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. His current market value is around £5m, according to Transfermarkt. His Celtic career is still taking shape, but he has already become a steady part of the current side.
