Cameron Carter-Vickers was born in Southend-on-Sea on 31 December 1997 (age 28) and represents the United States. A central defender, he came through Tottenham Hotspur without quite finding a settled first-team route there, with a run of loan spells in English football doing much of the hardening-up work.
He joined Celtic from Tottenham in August 2021 and quickly gave the back line something it had badly needed: calm, strength and a defender who looked comfortable with responsibility. His first league season remains his most productive in attacking terms, with four goals in 33 appearances in 2021-22.
Since arriving at Celtic, Carter-Vickers has won four Premiership titles, three League Cups and two Scottish Cups, as well as finishing runner-up in one Scottish Cup. That record reflects his importance to a side that has relied heavily on his steadiness when fit.
He remains part of the current Celtic squad, wearing number 20. In 2025-26, he has made seven league appearances and three in the Europa League, with 10 appearances in all competitions and no goals. His market value is around £7.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Carter-Vickers’ career has moved from Tottenham prospect, through the necessary grind of loans, to an established Celtic defender with a substantial honours list. He is not a showy centre-half, which is part of the point.
