Ah, Coll Donaldson, a Scotsman born on the 9th of April in 1995, now at the ripe age of 30. Mostly known for occupying his position as a central defender for Falkirk, and measuring 6ft 2in tall (or 1.88m for our continental friends) and tipping the scales at 12st 12lb (again, 82kg for the metrically minded). He dons the number 6 jersey and does a fair crack of a job at it.
Flash his name across Transfermarkt and you'll unsurprisingly see he's valued at a a humble £85,000 or thereabouts. Not exactly a king's ransom, eh?
His football journey began in earnest in July of 2012, when he joined Livingston in the Scottish Premiership. During his debut season, he was spotted on the pitch a slim total of 5 times, and things only slightly improved in the following season with an added total of 19 appearances and a solitary net rattle.
In January 2014, a seemingly adventurous Queens Park Rangers decided to part with around £150,000 to ferry him south of the border. His time in England, however, could be described as fleeting at most with only a single first team appearance to his name.
Perhaps sensing some good old-fashioned Scottish skies, he darted back north to Dundee United in July of 2015. Despite pulling on the Tangerine shirt 32 times over two seasons, his scoring book remained as blank as a bored school child’s homework.
In a move akin to a downward spiral, our dear Donaldson went further down the Scottish football pecking order by joining Inverness CT in August 2017. The season saw him putting together a less than stellar performance with 16 appearances, and none of those leading to him joyously running back from the opponents' nets.
Donaldson then packed his bags again in January 2020 and headed over to Ross County, leaving Inverness CT's League One behind to again tread the Championship greens, much to their gaffer’s profound relief, I'd wager. The result was a total of 37 match appearances over three seasons, with the rare spectacle of a goal.
In January 2022, he went to Dunfermline Athletic on load, then obligatorily returned to Ross County in June 2022, after his rental period ended. He made a modest 7 appearances in the span of a season, and a further 30 in two ensuing seasons with one tick on the scoring card.
Finally, in July 2022, he landed himself a spot at Falkirk. In an astounding display of mediocracy, he's amassed 51 appearances and a singular goal over three seasons. Let's not forget his two-start joy run in the Scottish Cup for Falkirk during the 2025 - 2026 season. Oh, what a ride.
So here's to Coll Donaldson, a journeyman who’s journeyed perhaps more than most men, and continues his football voyage amidst the great annals of the Scottish game.
