Dane Murray, born on 26 June 2003 (age 22), is a Scottish central defender with Celtic. At 6ft 4in (1.93m), he is a commanding enough presence, and he currently wears squad number 47.
Murray’s Celtic connection came early, but the first proper senior shape of his career was made at Queen’s Park. In the 2024-25 league season he made 18 appearances for the Glasgow club without scoring, giving him the run of football that still defines his career more than anything he has done since.
His January 2025 move from Queen’s Park was a return to Celtic. He was part of the squad as Celtic won the 2024-25 Premiership, though his own senior involvement has come more clearly in the following campaign.
In 2025-26, Murray has made six league appearances for Celtic, along with one League Cup appearance, three in the Scottish Cup, one in Champions League qualifying and four in the Europa League. Across all competitions for Celtic, he has 15 appearances and one goal. His form this season has been solid, although he has been out of the matchday squad recently, with his last appearance coming in the 2-2 draw with Rangers on 1 March 2026.
His current market value is around £298,000, according to Transfermarkt. For now, his career is still a short one: a meaningful senior spell at Queen’s Park, followed by a return to Celtic and the early stages of trying to turn squad involvement into something more regular.
