Drey Wright, born 30 April 1994 in England, is a skilled forward, who, at thirty years old, usually plies his trade as a right winger at St Johnstone. Standing at 5ft 9in (1.77m) and weighing 10st 12lb (69kg), Wright commands an assertive presence on the pitch. His preferred jersey is number 14.
Wright's current market value is estimated to be around €300k, which converts to just above £250,000, as provided by Transfermarkt. His contract with St Johnstone is drawing to a close, set to conclude on 31 May 2025.
Wright's professional career began in July 2012, when he joined Colchester United in the League Two in England. Over a six-year period, he made a substantial number of first team appearances, most notably in the 2016 - 2017 season where he featured in a total of 42 league matches, scoring two goals.
After bidding farewell to Colchester United in July 2018, Wright boarded a flight north to Scotland to join the Scottish Premiership side, St Johnstone. It was in the 2022-2023 season that Wright arguably showcased his most impressive form, taking to the pitch in 38 league matches and netting seven goals.
In a surprising twist during July 2020, Wright transferred from St Johnstone to Hibernian, also a team in Scotland's Premiership. Despite making first-team appearances spanning two seasons, Wright re-transferred to St Johnstone in July 2022.
During his second spell at St Johnstone, which covers the 2024 - 2025 season, Wright featured heavily in first-team selections with a total of 31 appearances, netting once. He also had a run in the League Cup with four starts, enjoying some Scottish Cup action with two starts and one substitute appearance.
Despite not a Celtic player, the persistent determination of Wright combined with a significant record of appearances makes him an interesting feature in the landscape of Scottish football's Premiership.
