Hyunjun Yang, born on 25 May 2002 (age 23), is a South Korean right winger who remains part of Celtic’s first-team picture. He joined in July 2023 from Gangwon FC for around £2m, arriving after a 2022 league season in Korea in which he scored eight goals in 36 appearances.
His Celtic career has been one of gradual usefulness rather than instant certainty. Wearing squad number 13, he has had to compete in a wide area where the demands are fairly obvious: carry the ball, work back, and produce often enough to justify the place. In 2025-26, he has done that with solid, consistent form.
Across the current season, Yang has made 45 appearances for Celtic in all competitions and scored 10 goals. That includes 30 league appearances and eight league goals, plus contributions in the League Cup, Scottish Cup, Champions League qualifying and Europa League. He has also featured for Korea Republic in Asian World Cup qualifying.
His time at Celtic has already brought silverware, with a Premiership title, a League Cup and a Scottish Cup among his honours. His current market value is around £2.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Yang is still a developing player, but no longer a fringe curiosity. From Gangwon to Celtic, his career has moved steadily upwards, and his regular involvement in 2025-26 shows he has become a live part of the squad rather than just an option waiting for spare minutes.
