Isak Hien is a Swedish central defender, born on 13 January 1999 (age 27), now with Atalanta. A commanding 6ft 3in (1.91m) presence, he plays primarily at centre-back and wears the No 4 shirt.
His development was helped by early senior football rather than a smooth academy-to-first-team glide. Loan spells, including time back at Vasalunds IF after joining Djurgårdens IF, gave him the minutes and rough edges needed before he settled properly at a higher level.
Hien’s most productive league season came in 2022 with Djurgårdens IF, when he scored two goals in 17 appearances. That was enough to move his career on, first into Italian football and then to Atalanta, where he has become a regular part of the side rather than squad furniture.
In 2025-2026, he has made 39 appearances for Atalanta in all competitions, including 28 in Serie A, nine in the Champions League and two in the Coppa Italia, with one goal. He has also remained involved with Sweden, making one World Cup appearance and six in European qualifying this season.
His current market value is around £17m, according to Transfermarkt. Hien’s career has been built steadily: Swedish development football, a useful spell at Djurgårdens IF, and now regular first-team work in Serie A with Atalanta.
