Johnny Kenny, born on 6 June 2003 and now 22 years old, hails from the Republic of Ireland. He's a forward by nature, turning his keen eye for goal towards his duties as main striker for Bolton Wanderers. Physically, he stands at 5ft 9in (1.77m) and tips the scales at 11st 2lb (71kg). His gift for the beautiful game has also led him to represent his home country at an international level.
In terms of financials, Kenny’s current market value sits somewhere near £510k, as stated here by Transfermarkt.
Kenny’s professional career began in earnest with Sligo Rovers, a Premier Division team in his native Ireland. He signed with them in January 2020, and his debut season in 2021 saw him make 32 league appearances and notch up 11 goals.
January 2022, however, brought a new chapter in Kenny’s career as he transferred from Sligo Rovers to the Scottish Premiership side, Celtic for approximately £119k. This was where Kenny found himself between the years of 2024 and 2025, making eight first team appearances and scoring a solitary league goal. For the current season of 2025 to 2026, Kenny has already worn the Celtic jersey on 15 occasions, finding the back of the net four times.
A short stinted loan spell occurred in August 2022, seeing Kenny shipped over to Queen's Park in the Championship from Celtic. His time at Queen's Park was limited, accumulating 12 league appearances.
In a turn of events, January 2023 saw Kenny transferred from Celtic to Shamrock Rovers, another Premier Division team in his homeland. He logged a hefty 59 appearances and potted 18 goals across two seasons with Shamrock Rovers.
Celtic welcomed Kenny back in January 2025 after the completion of his loan spell at Shamrock Rovers. He once again featured for Celtic, this time for two more seasons where he made a total of 23 first team appearances and scored five goals.
Fast forwards to February 2026, Kenny was once again on the move, this time heading to Bolton Wanderers in England's League One, again on loan. However, his current season here has yet to offer him any first team appearances.
Beyond his club commitments, Kenny also made his mark in international football, participating in the World Cup Qualifiers Europe 2024 - 2026 for the Republic of Ireland with a single appearance off the bench.
