Jordan Obita, born on 8 December 1993 (age 32), is a Uganda international left-back with a long senior career and a current place in Hibernian’s first-team picture.
An early loan spell at Gillingham gave him useful exposure to senior football, and it remains the most productive league burst of his career: three goals in six appearances in 2011–12. That was a small sample, but a tidy one, and the sort of spell that can matter for a young player learning the trade away from the quieter edges of academy football.
At Hibernian, Obita wears the number 21 shirt and has remained a regular in 2025–26. He has made 24 league appearances, scoring once, and has also featured in domestic cups and European qualifiers. Across all competitions for Hibs this season, he has made 36 appearances and scored one goal.
His form has been solid and consistent rather than spectacular, which is no bad thing for a full-back asked to keep turning up week after week. He has also represented Uganda this season, making four appearances in African World Cup qualifying.
Obita’s career has settled into the shape of an experienced first-team defender: early development through loan football, steady senior service, and continuing relevance at Hibernian in his early thirties.
