Josh Mulligan, born on 12 November 2002 (age 23), is a Scottish central midfielder whose senior career has been shaped far more by Dundee than anywhere else. He came through there, took useful early loan football as part of his development, then became a proper first-team player at Dens Park rather than another academy name passing through.
Across five seasons with Dundee, Mulligan made 95 league appearances and scored five league goals. His most productive league campaign came in 2021–22, when he scored twice in 11 appearances, but the broader point is the volume of football he earned there. Dundee gave him his platform, his education, and most of his senior identity.
He is now at Hibernian, where he wears squad number 20 and remains a regular presence in the 2025–26 side. This season has been strong overall: 22 league appearances and one league goal, with further minutes in the League Cup, Scottish Cup and European qualifiers taking him to 31 appearances and three goals in all competitions. He has, however, been out of the matchday squad in recent weeks, having last appeared in Hibernian’s 1-1 draw with Motherwell on 10 January 2026.
Mulligan was linked with a move to Celtic in December 2025 while at Hibernian. His market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
His career remains a Dundee-built one, now continued at Hibernian with regular senior football. At this stage, he is a developing Scottish midfielder with a solid body of Premiership experience rather than a prospect trading only on promise.
