Junior Adamu, born on the 6th of June 2001 in Nigeria, is a forward who plays primarily as a striker for Celtic. Standing at a height of 5ft 11in (1.82m) and weighing in at 11st 6lb (73kg), Adamu is a formidable presence on the pitch.
As of the time of writing, Adamu's current market value is estimated to be £4.5m as reported by Transfermarkt.
In July 2015, Adamu began his professional football journey with FC Liefering in Austria's 2. Liga as a trainee. His three seasons with the club saw a steady improvement in form, with Adamu scoring more goals and making more first-team appearances each year. His performances earned him a loan move to St. Gallen in the Swiss Super League in February 2021. Adamu continued his solid performances with 14 appearances and six goals in league matches in the remainder of the 2020 - 2021 season.
After being recalled from his loan spell, Adamu transferred from FC Liefering to Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian top flight for an undisclosed fee in July 2021. His time at Salzburg was marked by consistent performances, with Adamu finding the back of the net 17 times over two seasons.
Adamu was then sold to Freiburg in Germany's Bundesliga in July 2023 for a sum in the region of £8.1m. His first couple of seasons in Germany were mixed, with a total of three goals in 40 league appearances. During this time, he also had a brief stint with Freiburg II in the Regionalliga Südwest, Germany's fourth tier, where he made two appearances.
In February 2026, Adamu made his way to Scottish shores as Celtic took him on loan. While he has yet to make an impact in the league for the Hoops, he has made one substitute appearance in the Scottish Cup 2025 - 2026 and scored one goal. Celtic fans will be hoping for more of the same as Adamu begins his journey with the club.
