Kjell Watjen is a German centre midfielder, born on 16 February 2006 (age 20), now with FC Midtjylland. His senior profile is still being built, but he already has a clear step in the record from development football in Germany into first-team involvement in Denmark.
His most productive league season came in 2024-25 with Borussia Dortmund II, where he scored five goals in 20 appearances. For a young midfielder, that was a useful return rather than a headline act, and it helped give shape to the next move in his career.
At Midtjylland in 2026-27, Watjen has made two Europa League qualifying appearances. His current market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Watjen’s career so far is a straightforward one: German youth development, a productive spell with Dortmund’s second side, and early competitive minutes at Midtjylland. There is enough there to mark him as a player beyond the academy stage, though still with plenty of the story unwritten.
