Lukáš Horníček, born on 13 July 2002 (age 24), is a Czech goalkeeper now with Newcastle United. At an imposing 6ft 6in (1.97m), he has the obvious frame for the position, though his senior career to this point has been shaped far more by SC Braga than by English football.
Braga has provided the substance of his professional record. Across four seasons there, Horníček made 52 league appearances, giving him a proper run of senior football rather than the usual stop-start education of a young goalkeeper. His current market value is around £7m, according to Transfermarkt.
His move to Newcastle has, so far, been a quieter stage of the career. In 2025-26, he has made two UEFA U21 appearances for the club, which also accounts for his total Newcastle record across all competitions.
Horníček remains a developing goalkeeper with a clear senior base from his years at Braga and a current role at Newcastle still taking shape.
