Luke McCowan, born on 9 December 1997 (age 28), is a Scottish central attacking midfielder with Celtic. His senior career has been shaped above all by Dundee, where he became a reliable and productive Premiership player rather than just another tidy midfield option.
Across four seasons at Dundee, McCowan made 99 league appearances and scored 23 league goals. His strongest campaign came in 2023-24, when he scored 10 times in 37 league games, a return that helped push him beyond the usual category of useful domestic midfielder.
Celtic signed him from Dundee in August 2024 for around £1m. He was part of the squad that won the Premiership in 2024-25, and his current market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
In 2025-26, McCowan has remained a regular first-team presence. He has made 30 league appearances, scoring one league goal, along with three League Cup appearances, four in the Scottish Cup, one in Champions League qualifying and four in the Europa League. Across all competitions this season, he has 42 appearances and four goals, with his form generally solid and consistent.
McCowan’s career is still most strongly linked to Dundee, but he has carried that form into a meaningful role at Celtic. He is not a headline act, and does not need to be one, but he remains involved and useful in the current side.
