Lutsharel Geertruida, born on 18 July 2000 (age 25), is a Netherlands international central defender now with RB Leipzig, where he wears the number two shirt. His current market value is around £27m, according to Transfermarkt.
His career is shaped chiefly by Feyenoord. Across seven seasons there, Geertruida made 144 league appearances and scored 19 league goals, a substantial body of work rather than a passing development spell. His best scoring season came in 2023-24, when he scored eight times in 34 league appearances – a strong return for a player used primarily in defence.
The move to RB Leipzig took him into a different setting, but 2025-26 has started quietly at club level, with no league appearances so far. He has still remained involved internationally, making three appearances for the Netherlands in European World Cup qualifying this season.
Geertruida’s career to this point is still rooted in Feyenoord: developed there, established there, and productive there over a long spell. Leipzig is now the next test, but the main substance of his senior football remains in Rotterdam.
