Macaulay Tait, born on 27 August 2005 (age 20), is a compact Scottish centre-midfielder at 5ft 7in (1.70m), primarily associated now with Hearts but with a senior career shaped most clearly by Livingston.
His time at Livingston has carried the main weight so far: 48 league appearances across two seasons, without a league goal, but with enough regular football to make the spell more than a development footnote. For a young midfielder, that volume of senior minutes matters more than any tidy label attached to him.
At Hearts, Tait’s 2023-24 league season brought 12 appearances and no goals, a modest but useful step into the first-team picture. In 2025-26 he has remained relevant, making 33 league appearances, again without scoring. He is valued at around £425,000 by Transfermarkt.
Tait’s career is still developing, but it already has a clear shape: early senior exposure, a defining Livingston spell, and continued first-team involvement at Hearts.
