Marcelo Saracchi, born on 23 April 1998 (age 28), is a Uruguay left-back who joined Celtic from Boca Juniors in August 2025. His market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
His early senior football came at Danubio, where his most productive league season was 2017: two goals in 10 appearances. It was a modest return, but enough to show a full-back with some forward thrust rather than just a touchline labourer.
At Boca Juniors, Saracchi was mainly used on the left side of defence. In 2024 he made 13 league appearances and scored once in the Primera División, before Celtic moved for him the following summer.
His first season at Celtic brought a Premiership title in 2025/26. That gives his move an immediate practical value, even if his career is still best understood as that of an established professional rather than a marquee name.
Saracchi’s career has taken him from Uruguay to Boca and then to Celtic, with his role remaining clear throughout: a left-back with enough attacking output to matter, but whose work is still rooted in the basics of the position.
