Delving into the life of Marley Watkins, we find that our lad was born on the 17th of October, 1990, in England. Celebrating his 34th birthday this year, Watkins finds himself playing as a forward and specialist striker role for Kilmarnock. Standing at a decent 5ft 10in (1.78m) and a weight of 10st 3lb (65kg), he adorns the number 23 jersey in the field.
Tracing back to July 2008, Watkins began his professional career with Cheltenham Town in the English League Two. He had his debut stint during the 2008 to 2009 season, making 12 first-team appearances. The subsequent season saw Watkins marking his presence with 13 first-team appearances and his first league goal.
This led to a September 2010 loan transfer to Bath City, a National League South team in England. Watkins showed an impressive run at Bath City during the 2010 - 2011 season with 22 first-team appearances and three goals. The following season was formative too as he made 37 appearances and committed the ball to the back of the net five times.
Defying the constraints of the loan, Watkins made the move to Bath City from Cheltenham Town permanent in January 2011 for an undisclosed fee. However, the following two seasons were a repeat of his earlier stint, with an equal amount of appearances and goals.
A new chapter unfolded in July 2012 as Watkins transferred to Hereford United, an English Southern Football League team. His tenure at Hereford United saw him make 34 appearances and contribute a handful of goals in the 2012 - 2013 season.
2013 marked his move to the North as he transferred to Inverness CT in Scottish League One. During the 2013 - 2014 session, he made 26 appearances with a single goal, and the next season yielded a bumper harvest with 33 appearances and seven goals.
A southward trip followed in July 2015 as Watkins returned to England, signing a deed with Barnsley in the League One. This season saw Watkins marking his presence in 34 matches with five goals. The following season proved equally fruitful as Watkins made 42 appearances, netting the ball ten times.
Watkins transferred to Norwich City in the English Championship in July 2017, where he made 24 first-team appearances that season. The fame reached a tipping point when he moved south yet again in July 2018 to Bristol City in the English Championship for an approximate £1m fee. Over the next 3 seasons, he made limited appearances and scored fewer goals for Bristol City.
His journey continued with a loan move to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership in August 2020, where he made nine first-team appearances and registered two goals. He continued his run over the next two seasons, making more appearances and scoring a few goals for the team.
In June 2021, despite spending a brief stint back at Bristol City following the end of his loan at Aberdeen, Watkins transferred to an unnamed club at an unknown location. Shortly after, in July 2021, he moved from Cardiff City to Aberdeen in the Premiership in Scotland, and later joined Cardiff City in the English Championship in August 2021. The blanks in the narrative see Watkins making a move from Aberdeen to an unnamed club in an unknown location in June 2023, before joining Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership in July 2023 for an undisclosed fee.
At Kilmarnock, in the 2023 - 2024 season, Watkins made 36 first-team appearances, marking the season with nine goals while the current season (2024 - 2025) observes him making 26 appearances with four goals. This season also sees Watkins participating in the League Cup, Scottish Cup, Europa League Qualifiers, and Conference League Qualifiers for Kilmarnock, scoring one goal in two starts.
