Maxi Araújo, born on 15 February 2000 (age 26), is a Uruguay international left winger with Sporting CP. His market value is around £14.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
His most productive league season came with Toluca in 2022–23, when he scored six goals in 17 appearances. That spell gave a clearer shape to his senior career: direct, useful from the left, and productive enough to move beyond being filed as just another promising South American attacker.
At Sporting CP in 2026–27, Araújo remains a regular first-team presence. He has made six Liga Portugal appearances, scoring once, and has also featured once in the Champions League, taking him to seven appearances and one goal for the club across all competitions.
He has also stayed involved with Uruguay, making 15 appearances in South American World Cup qualifying and three World Cup appearances, with two goals. At this stage, his career is that of an established professional still carrying club and international relevance rather than trading on potential alone.
