Michel-Ange Balikwisha, born on 10 May 2001 (age 25), is a DR Congolese left winger whose career has been shaped far more by Royal Antwerp than by any other stop so far. He first made a proper mark at Standard Liege, where his most productive league season came in 2020-2021 with seven goals in 26 appearances.
Antwerp then became the main body of his career. Across five seasons he made 85 league appearances and scored 16 league goals, enough to make that spell the reference point for any sensible reading of his progress. It was not a brief development stop or a passing loan arrangement; it was where he built most of his senior record.
Celtic signed Balikwisha from Royal Antwerp in August 2025. His first season in Glasgow was limited in league terms, with seven Premiership appearances and no goals, though he was part of the squad that won the 2025-2026 Premiership. During the same campaign he also had a loan spell back at Antwerp, making four league appearances and scoring once.
His current market value is around £2.5m, according to Transfermarkt. At this stage, Balikwisha’s career remains anchored in his long Antwerp spell, with Celtic still a much shorter and less settled chapter.
