Miguel Chaiwa, born the 7th of June 2004 (now aged 21) hails from Zambia. He primarily plays as a central defensive midfielder, currently for Hibernian, situated in Scotland. Chaiwa stands at a height of 5ft 10in (1.79m), with a weight of 11st 6lb (73kg). He has also earned his stripes representing the Zambia national team.
According to Transfermarkt, the current market value for Chaiwa is hovering around £1m. His contract with Hibernian runs for another 1 year and 11 months, poised for expiry on the 30th of June, 2027.
Chaiwa’s football career has taken him to different corners of the globe. In July 2022, he transferred from Shamuel in the Zambian Second Division to Switzerland’s Young Boys Bern for an undisclosed fee. His debut season with the Swiss club (2022 - 2023) saw him make six appearances in league matches. This was followed by three appearances in the 2023 - 2024 season and ten in the 2024 - 2025 season.
In February 2024, Chaiwa was loaned from Young Boys Bern to FC Schaffhausen in the Swiss 1. Liga Promotion, making 14 first-team appearances during the season. Upon completion of his loan in June 2024, Chaiwa returned to Young Boys Bern.
In August 2025, Chaiwa opted for a change of scenery. He transferred from Young Boys Bern to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership for a fee circling the £700k mark. In his current season (2025 - 2026) with Hibernian, he has yet to make any first-team league appearances.
Chaiwa's career has not merely been restricted to club football. He participated in Hibernian's League Cup 2025 - 2026 season with one start, and also represented Zambia in the World Cup Qualifiers Africa 2024 - 2026, starting in two matches.
