Odilon Kossounou, born on 4 January 2001 (age 25), is an Ivorian central defender with Atalanta, where he wears the number 3 shirt. An imposing 6ft 3in (1.91m), he is valued at around £25.5m by Transfermarkt.
His early senior profile was built at Club Brugge, where the 2020-2021 season remains his most productive league campaign: 27 appearances and one goal. That was enough to mark him out as a defender with the frame and composure for a higher level, without needing to pretend he was reinventing the position.
Atalanta is now the main stage for him. In 2025-2026 he has remained a regular first-team presence, making 36 appearances in all competitions and scoring once. That includes 19 Serie A appearances, three in the Coppa Italia and 10 in the Champions League.
He has also continued with Ivory Coast this season, adding one World Cup appearance and three appearances in African World Cup qualifying. His career to this point is that of an established, still-developing defender operating at a strong European level and remaining involved for his national side.
