Let me tell you the story of our Finnish friend, Mr. Oliver Antman. Born on the 15th of August, 2001, he's a sprightly 24-year-old man whose heart seemingly belongs in the heart of the game, not the Highlands. His job? Rushing down the flanks as a right winger - primarily for Rangers. He's fairly tall for a footballer, standing at 6ft (1.85m for those thinking in metric) and weighing in at a sturdy 11st 6lb (73kg).
According to our trusty friends at Transfermarkt, the lad is valued at roughly £4m. Not a shabby sum considering his footballing odyssey thus far.
His journey began in August 2018, moving from IF Gnistan, a club in the Veikkausliiga (Finland's top tier), to FC Nordsjaelland (Denmark's Superliga) for an almost laughable fee of £45k. During his time there, through various seasons, our hero made a staggered 90 appearances, managing to knock the ball into the net a humble 13 times.
But wait, there's more! In January 2023, young Antman was shipped off to FC Groningen in the Eredivisie, the Dutch Premier League, on what seemed to be a working holiday (also known as a loan). He managed to squeeze in 11 appearances and two goals before returning, like a boomerang, back to FC Nordsjaelland.
Not a man to stay put, in August 2024, Antman packed his bags once more. This time he headed back to the windmills and tulips of the Eredivisie, but now wearing the colours of Go Ahead Eagles. The club coughed up what now seems a reasonable £1.3m for his services. Over there, the Finn made a significant 32 appearances, netting six goals - a career best.
Fast forward to August 2025, and Oliver found himself following the path of many a brave Finnish warrior before him: migrating to the bonnie Scottish lands to join the ranks of Rangers. The 'Gers, feeling generous, shelled out a cool £3m to secure his services. In the current 2025-2026 season, he has put in 11 appearances and managed to score just once.
He's also had brief and sporadic spells on other pitches, having participated in fixtures for both club and country in events like the League Cup, World Cup Qualifiers, Champions League Qualifiers, Nations League, and the Europa League.
So there it is, the breathless saga of Oliver Antman - a Norseman eking out his place in Nordic, Dutch and Scottish football history, one goal at a time.
