Patrick Roberts, born in Kingston upon Thames on 5 February 1997 (age 29), is an English right winger now with Birmingham City. A small-framed player at 5ft 6in (1.67m), he wears squad number 27 and is valued at around £4.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Roberts joined Celtic from Manchester City in February 2016, a move that gave him the first sustained senior platform his talent needed. His most productive league season came at Celtic in 2016-17, when he scored nine goals in 32 appearances. That spell did not require much embroidery: he played regularly, contributed properly, and looked like a young player being sharpened by senior football rather than merely loaned out for appearances’ sake.
His career has since taken him back south, and he is now part of Birmingham City’s squad. In 2026-27, he has made five Championship appearances and two FA Cup appearances, scoring once in the cup, giving him seven Birmingham appearances in all competitions so far.
Roberts’ career remains shaped most clearly by that Celtic period: a compact wide player from Manchester City’s system who found regular football in Glasgow, produced his best league return there, and is now continuing his career with Birmingham.
