Roland Idowu, born on the 21st of January 2002, is a native of the Republic of Ireland. Currently aged 23, Idowu is deployed primarily in the role of a central attacking midfielder for Scottish Premiership side St Mirren, donning the number 12 jersey. Standing at 6ft (or 1.83m for those more accustomed to metric measurements), with a solid build of 11st 6lb (equivalent to 73kg), Idowu makes for an imposing physical presence in the centre of the park.
In terms of career progression, Idowu's professional journey began in earnest in August 2021 when he signed for Bohemian FC, playing within the competitive Premier Division of the Republic of Ireland. During his solitary season with 'The Bohs', Idowu made a modest contribution of five league appearances.
January 2022 marked a shift for Idowu, as the popping of New Year's champagne signalled his departure from Bohemian FC in favour of joining fellow Premier Division rivals Waterford. Two years later, in January 2024, Idowu took the not insubstantial leap to the English system, transferring to Shrewsbury Town, who at the time fought battles in the unforgiving trenches of League One.
Idowu would not remain long under the Shrewsbury radar however; only seven months later, in July 2024, he ventured north of the border, joining St Mirren in Scotland's Premiership division. This move, a loan transfer, presented new opportunities for this midfielder.
In his current season (2024 - 2025) with St Mirren in the rugged climes of Scotland, Idowu has started to make his mark. Twenty-five first team appearances, augmented by an admirable tally of three goals, tells a tale of consistent involvement and tangible output. Furthermore, his participation extends into atypical matches; within the 2024 - 2025 League Cup, Idowu was trusted with a starting place, while the early stage European jaunts, the Conference League Qualifiers of the same season, saw him earn three starts and one substitute cameo.
