Seán Maguire, born on 1 May 1994 (age 32), is an Irish striker now associated again with Cork City. His early career was shaped by loan spells rather than a clean, straight climb, which is often how young forwards find out whether their game works against senior defenders.
Those early loans gave him the practical part of the education: minutes, contact, and the pressure to finish chances without much ceremony. For a striker, there is no particularly subtle substitute for that.
His most productive league season came with Cork City in 2017, when he scored 20 goals in 21 appearances. That remains the obvious high point in his record, not because it needs dressing up, but because that level of return over half a season is difficult to ignore.
Maguire’s career has been that of a capable Irish centre-forward who did his best work when settled and trusted. Cork City is where his record reads strongest, with the 2017 season still the clearest measure of what he could offer.
