Sebastian Tounekti, born on the 13th of July 2002 in Norway, currently spearheads the Celtic offensive line, primarily serving as a left winger. Of a height of 5ft 7in (1.71m) and a weight of 10st 3lb (65kg), he adorns the Celtic green and white sporting the number 23 jersey. In addition to his domestic duties, he also represents the Tunisian national team on an international stage.
Being a significant asset for his clubs and country, Tounekti currently holds a market value of approximately £3.5m, as recorded by Transfermarkt.
In terms of his professional journey, he initiated his career with Tromsdalen in Norway's 2. Divisjon. He made the switch to the Eliteserien, Norway's topflight, joining Bodo Glimt in March 2020 for a fee that remains unknown. Despite his debut season with Bodo Glimt being limited to nine appearances and one goal, the succeeding season saw him play five more first-team matches.
A shift in scenery came in August 2021 when Tounekti embarked on a brief loan spell with Eredivisie's FC Groningen in the Netherlands. His stint concluded in June 2022, upon which he returned to Norway and his parent club Bodo Glimt. Here, he mirrored his initial performance with nine first-team appearances and a single goal to his name.
Moving on domestically in August 2022, he joined Haugesund in the OBOS-ligaen. His time in Haugesund was marked by a steady progression. This included 41 league appearances across three seasons and four goals to his name, demonstrating his determination and grit.
February 2025 saw yet another shift, this time from Norway to Sweden. Joining Hammarby IF in the Allsvenskan, he had 21 appearances and two goals for the club, achieving all this for a fee of approximately £1m.
And then, the grand adventure to Scotland. Celtic procured Tounekti from Hammarby IF in September 2025. Regardless of the undisclosed fee, his performance displayed the value they saw in the Norwegian-Tunisian forward. He has made 15 appearances and scored once over the ongoing 2025 - 2026 season.
It's not just club football, though. Tounekti has showed up for Tunisia in World Cup Qualifiers and the Africa CON 2025. Alongside, he's made his presence felt in domestic cups for Celtic, as well as the Europa League. Truly, talent knows no boundaries, and Sebastien Tounekti continues to prove this with every match.
