Born on 13 July 2002 (age 23), Sebastian Tounekti is a compact Tunisian left winger who joined Celtic from Hammarby IF in September 2025. He took squad number 23 and arrived with a profile built more on steady senior football than noise.
His most productive league season came at Haugesund in 2024, when he scored four goals in 29 appearances. That is modest enough, but it also points to a player who had already been trusted for regular minutes before Celtic brought him in.
In 2025-2026, Tounekti has remained involved rather than drifting to the margins. He has made 26 league appearances for Celtic, scoring twice, with further contributions in the League Cup, Scottish Cup and Europa League. Across all competitions for the club, he has 46 appearances and five goals, including cup goals that have kept his season ticking over.
He has also been involved with Tunisia this season, making two appearances in African World Cup qualifying. His form for Celtic has been solid and consistent, which is not a bad place to be in a squad where wide players are rarely allowed much comfort.
His current market value is around £5m, according to Transfermarkt. At this stage, his Celtic career is that of a regular first-team option with room still to sharpen the end product.
