Tomáš Čvančara, born on 13 August 2000 (age 25), is a Czech striker who joined Celtic in January 2026 from Borussia Mönchengladbach. A commanding 6ft 3in (1.90m) forward, he arrived with a record that suggested usefulness rather than certainty, which is usually a safer place to start.
His strongest league season came with Sparta Prague in 2022–23, when he scored 12 goals in 24 appearances. That form helped carry him on to Borussia Mönchengladbach, though his 2025–26 campaign was split: 11 league appearances and one goal on loan at Antalyaspor, then nine league appearances and two goals for Celtic after his January move.
His form this season has been solid, without forcing the issue. He has been out of the matchday squad recently, with his last appearance coming in Celtic’s 1–0 win over St Mirren on 11 April 2026. His current market value is around £2m, according to Transfermarkt.
Čvančara’s career so far has taken him from Czech football to Germany, Turkey and now Celtic. He is an established professional with a decent scoring season behind him, but his place at Celtic still looks like something to be earned rather than assumed.
