Tony Watt, a striker noted for Motherwell, was born in Scotland on the 29th of December in 1993. Standing at 5ft 11in (1.82m) and weighing 13st 12lb (88kg), Watt sports the number 52 jersey. According to Transfermarkt, his current market standing is around £250k, with his contract with Motherwell scheduled to conclude on the 31st May 2025.
Watt began his professional journey with Airdrieonians in the Scottish Championship in July 2010, making 15 appearances and scoring three goals. By January 2011, Celtic had recognised his potential and transferred him to their Scottish Premiership team for around £100k.
Watt's stint at Celtic, which lasted until August 2013, was productive but ultimately short-lived. Highlights of his tenure included the seasons 2011 - 2012 and 2012 - 2013, where he made a total of 23 appearances and netted seven goals. His form though, couldn't be sustained into the 2013 - 2014 season, where he only managed two appearances.
Following his time at Celtic, Watt spent the 2013 - 2014 season on loan at Lierse SK in the Belgian Derde Klasse. He enjoyed a decisive season, making 17 appearances and scoring an impressive eight goals. The Belgian connection continued, with Watt transferring to Standard Liege for £1.2m in July 2014. His time at Standard Liege though was less successful, marked by 13 appearances and just two goals.
After leaving the Belgian league, Watt endured a somewhat nomadic existence across England and Scotland, with a brief sojourn in Bulgaria at CSKA Sofia. In England, Watt had stints with Charlton Athletic, Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers, all interspersed with loans to Scottish sides Hearts, Dundee United, St Mirren, and his current home, Motherwell.
In early 2022, Watt made a £100k switch from Motherwell to Dundee United. Across three seasons at Dundee United, Watt's form fluctuated - he managed 70 appearances in total, scoring 18 goals. This period also included a successful loan spell at St Mirren, where he made ten appearances and scored once.
In August 2024, Watt returned to Motherwell on loan. So far in this season, he has played 23 times and scored once. Watt also made appearances as a substitute in both the League Cup and Scottish Cup of 2024 - 2025 for Motherwell.
