Viljami Sinisalo, born on 11 October 2001 (age 24), is a Finland international goalkeeper at Celtic. A towering 6ft 5in (1.96m), he joined from Aston Villa in July 2024 for around £1m and wears the number 12 shirt.
His senior career before Celtic was still taking shape, with a brief league spell at Burton Albion in 2022/23 among his earlier football away from Villa. Celtic has given him the clearest platform so far. Across two seasons he has made 16 league appearances, and 17 in all competitions, without fuss or much need for theatre.
Sinisalo was part of the Celtic squad that won the Premiership and League Cup in 2024/25. In 2025/26 he has had a more active role, making 10 league appearances, along with two in the League Cup, four in the Scottish Cup and one in the Europa League. His form has been solid and consistent, which is not a bad starting point for a goalkeeper trying to build trust.
He has also remained involved with Finland, making two appearances in European World Cup qualifying this season. His current market value is around £850,000, according to Transfermarkt.
Sinisalo’s career is still relatively young, but Celtic is already the club giving it its shape. He arrived from Aston Villa, has collected early medals, and remains part of the current squad as a dependable Finnish goalkeeper with room still to grow.
