Youssouf Fofana, born on 10 January 1999 (age 27), is a France central defensive midfielder with AC Milan. He wears number 19 and is valued at around £19.5m by Transfermarkt.
His career has been shaped most clearly by Monaco. Across five seasons there, Fofana made 143 league appearances and scored six league goals, building the sort of body of work that tends to say more than any tidy description of his role. His most productive league campaign came in 2023–24, when he scored four times in 32 appearances.
He later moved on to AC Milan, where he has remained firmly involved in 2025–26 rather than drifting into the background. He has made 33 Serie A appearances and scored two league goals, with two further outings in the Coppa Italia and one in the Supercoppa, giving him 36 appearances in all competitions for Milan.
Fofana’s career is still largely anchored by his long Monaco spell, but his place at Milan shows a player still operating regularly at a high level. The shape of it is straightforward: a French midfielder established over several years in Ligue 1, now a regular part of Milan’s first-team picture.
