Alyaksandr Martynovich, born on 26 August 1987 (age 38), is a Belarusian central defender with a commanding 6ft 4in (1.93m) frame. He has spent the bulk of his senior career in Russia and Kazakhstan, with Krasnodar giving the career its main shape.
His long spell at Krasnodar was the substantial one: 197 league appearances and five league goals across 10 seasons. That sort of service is not especially fashionable, but it tells its own story. He became a durable, regular centre-back there rather than a player passing through.
Martynovich later had a productive league season at Rubin Kazan in 2023-24, scoring three times in 20 appearances. It was his best league return in front of goal, though his game has plainly been built more on presence and reliability than on attacking numbers.
By 2026 he was with Kairat, where he has made four Champions League qualifying appearances and five Champions League appearances, nine games in all. He has also remained involved with Belarus, making two European World Cup qualifying appearances this season.
Martynovich’s career is essentially that of a long-serving Krasnodar defender who has extended his senior years at Rubin Kazan and Kairat while continuing to represent Belarus.
