Kairat are one of Kazakhstan’s established clubs, founded in 1954 and based at Almaty Central Stadium. Their current squad is a sizeable one – 35 players with an average age of 25 – and is valued at around £11m by Transfermarkt.
Their 2026-27 season is well under way, with Kairat sitting second in the Premier League and carrying strong domestic form. Six straight league wins have included a 5-0 home win over Okzhetpes and a 4-2 away victory at Kyzylzhar, suggesting a side with enough attacking range to punish looseness.
Dastan Satpaev leads their scoring with four goals, with Edmilson de Paula Santos Filho and Jorginho Costa Monteiro on two each. Ofri Arad and Olzhas Baybek have also contributed, giving Kairat a spread of scorers rather than a single obvious outlet.
Their season has also taken them through Champions League qualifying and into the League Phase, which gives them a level of continental exposure Celtic supporters will recognise as useful, if not always comfortable. Kairat are a current top-end Kazakh side: organised, in form, and not to be treated as scenery.
